Full Maintenance Schedule

Recommended home-maintenance intervals based on condition and established selectorized-equipment practice; these are not presented as GMWD-published intervals.

Before or during regular use

Pause if the machine does not feel or sound normal.

  • Listen for unusual noise; feel for binding or hesitation.
  • Check that the cable tracks correctly and has no visible damage.
  • Notice loose components or unexpected frame movement.
  • Confirm selector pin engages and adjustments lock securely.
  • Watch for smooth, controlled weight-stack travel.

Monthly

Inspect the visible parts carefully; use a light load for a smooth full-range check only if all safety checks pass.

  • Wipe and inspect both weight-stack guide rods.
  • Inspect all visible cable and coating for cracks, flattening, kinks, cuts, fraying or exposed wire.
  • Confirm cable stays centered in all pulley grooves; check pulley rotation, wobble and visible damage.
  • Check major bolts and hardware; inspect selector pin and adjustment/pop pins.
  • Check pads, upholstery, frame and visible welds.
  • With a light weight, move through the full range of motion and observe smooth travel.

Every 2–3 months / as needed

Let condition guide the work; do not lubricate just because a date arrived.

  • Clean and lightly lubricate guide rods when they feel dry or stack movement becomes less smooth.
  • Check adjustment pins and sliding adjustment areas.
  • Clean a sticky adjustment shaft first; if needed, apply only a very small amount of suitable dry/silicone lubricant.

Annually

Do a detailed overall inspection, in addition to routine checks.

  • Review the full visible cable, ends and routing; pulleys; guide rods; weight stack; frame and welds.
  • Check hardware, adjustment mechanisms, pads and selector pin.
  • Run through the full range if inspection passes and motion is smooth.
  • Arrange replacement or qualified service for any questionable safety-related part.

Guide Rod Lubrication

Lubricate only when the rods feel dry or the stack becomes less smooth after cleaning.

Quality silicone spray lubricant that leaves a light, relatively dry film.

Examples: CRC Silicone Spray or WD-40 Specialist Silicone Lubricant.

WD-40 Specialist Silicone = acceptable
Original WD-40 Multi-Use Product = not recommended as the routine guide-rod lubricant

This is general guidance for the exposed weight-stack guide rods. If GMWD issues a LE11-specific lubrication instruction, follow it instead.

  1. Lower the weight stack completely.
  2. Remove dust and residue from both chrome guide rods with a clean lint-free or microfiber cloth.
  3. Do not spray lubricant directly all over the machine.
  4. Apply a small amount of silicone lubricant to a clean cloth.
  5. Wipe a very thin film along the exposed length of each guide rod.
  6. Select a light weight.
  7. Move the stack through its range of motion about 5–10 times.
  8. Wipe away any visible excess lubricant.
The rods should feel smooth and slick, but they should NOT look wet or oily.

Cable & Pulley Inspection

Inspect the entire visible cable, including areas near connections and bends. Use a flashlight if helpful.

Look and feel for

  • Cracked, split or worn cable coating.
  • Flattened or crushed sections, kinks, cuts or fraying.
  • Broken or exposed wire strands.
  • Damaged cable end fittings or a cable that has left a pulley groove.
  • Changes in cable tracking or tension; a cable that rubs, jumps or catches.
If structural cable damage is found, stop using the machine until the cable has been properly repaired or replaced.
Do not try to fix a damaged cable by lubricating it.

Check each pulley

  • Cable remains centered in the groove.
  • Pulley spins smoothly and does not wobble excessively.
  • No cracks or obvious pulley damage.
  • Mounting hardware appears secure.

Sealed pulley bearings normally do not need routine external lubrication. Follow a GMWD service instruction if one is issued for the LE11.

Bolts & Hardware

  • Inspect major frame fasteners and visible hardware for looseness, damage or movement.
  • Check fasteners after initial assembly and again after several workouts.
  • Make another check around the first month of use, then continue periodic/monthly inspections.
  • Tighten loose structural fasteners appropriately. If a fastener repeatedly loosens or its threads/parts are damaged, stop and get qualified service.
Do not overtighten pivot bolts or moving joints in a way that prevents normal movement.

Adjustment Pins & Moving Parts

Includes pop pins, seat/back adjustments, leg-position adjustments and locking mechanisms.

  • Pins and controls should move freely, positively engage, and remain fully locked before exercising.
  • After changing a setting, check that the pin seats fully in its hole and the part cannot slide or rotate unexpectedly.
  • If a metal adjustment pin becomes sticky, clean it first and remove dirt or residue.
  • If still needed, apply only a very small amount of suitable silicone/dry lubricant to the pin shaft or sliding area, then wipe away excess.

Keep lubricant away from the cable, pulley grooves, pads and weight-stack contact surfaces.

Cleaning & Upholstery

Upholstery and pads

  • Wipe with a soft damp cloth.
  • Use mild soap when needed; wipe residue away and let the surface dry.
  • Avoid harsh solvents, abrasive cleaners and soaking the upholstery.

Frame and guide rods

  • Wipe dust and perspiration from the frame; keep it dry.
  • Inspect painted surfaces for scratches or developing corrosion.
  • Clean dirt from guide rods before lubricating.
  • Never apply fresh lubricant over a heavily contaminated rod.

What NOT to Lubricate

Keep lubricants on the intended contact surfaces only

Do not routinely apply lubricant to:

  • Cable or cable coating.
  • Pulley grooves or weight plates.
  • Upholstery, rubber handles or resistance bands.
  • Sealed pulley bearings.
  • Random pivot bolts, unless the manufacturer specifically requires it.

Avoid routine use of:

  • Heavy grease or motor oil.
  • Excessive 3-in-1 oil.
  • Original WD-40 Multi-Use Product as the routine guide-rod lubricant.
  • Excessive silicone lubricant.

Why: Excess lubricant can collect dust and contamination, which may interfere with smooth movement or dirty surrounding parts.

Warning Signs — Stop Using the Machine

Stop using the LE11 until the problem is corrected if any of these are present.

  • Exposed cable wire, broken strands or a damaged cable end fitting.
  • Cracked pulley or a pulley coming loose.
  • Selector pin fails to engage fully.
  • Weight stack binds severely or moves unexpectedly.
  • Major frame movement or a cracked weld.
  • Significant loose hardware.
  • Severe grinding or metal-on-metal movement.
  • An adjustment mechanism will not lock securely.
  • Cable comes out of a pulley groove or movement changes suddenly.

Leave the machine unloaded and out of service until the cause has been corrected. Have safety-related damage repaired or replaced by a qualified person.
